One Little Word

There are so many great New Year's ideas and and activities floating about and I ended up combining a couple.  First we thought of our one word that will inspire us this year, OLW.  Click here if you want to read more about it.  Crisscross Applesauce had an adorable idea for the OLW.  At first, I thought it would really difficult for students to grasp the idea of One Little Word.  We read about other bloggers OWL.  Then we all had a silent minute (I even put the timer up on the board) of silence to really think about what we wanted our word to be.  And then we wrote it down.  I was so impressed with some of the things they came up with!  (And only one wanted their word to be Halo....apparently it's a video game.) Then we cut out construction paper to make a self portrait and put on a New Year's party hat!
Love this kiddos organization skills!  If only they could all do that:-)

Our class One Little Word wordle.  What's your little word....
