Abundance of Awards and Story Sunday

The blog fairies must be smiling down at me, because blog awards are overflowing!  I got this award
from:
Erika  @ The Honey Bunch
Sheree @ Peterson's Pad

Mrs. Youel @ Adventures in Second Grade

Lou @ The Newbie Lou

Traci @ Dragonflies in First

Rebecca @ Teaching First

Tammy @ Forever in First

I got this award

from
Krista @ The Second Grade Super Kids

Mrs. Poland @ Think Wonder Teach

I am so thankful for all the teachers I am "meeting" through blogland!  So many bloggers have been receiving awards lately....I will find ones who haven't yet been blessed and pass this along.

And a couple of my planned read alouds this week:
And Then it's Spring by Julie Fogliano (illustrations by Erin Stead, last year's Caldecott winner) The story is about a boy who plants a seed and then is worried something went wrong until everything turns green.

I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen is a hilarious story about a bear who politely asks everyone where his hat went.  Pretty cute circular and repetitive story.

"Here are the ones who know magic:
The young
The old
The brave
The honest
The joyful
Our new chapter read aloud is Waiting for the Magic by Patricia MacLachlan.  The dad walks out on a family of three and their mom.  They decide they need a dog (because the dad never wanted one)  well they end up with a menagerie.  Each character has a unique personality and response to the magic.  By the end of the story each of the "ones who know magic" are discovered.  Even if you don't read it to your kids, read it for yourself.  It is a quick read and will warm your heart!

Happy Sunday,
Laurie
