 Blog Memories

Hopefully you have heard of, The 3am Teacher.  She has amazing graphics, frequently has freebies, and I always look forward to her posts!  She is having a linky party celebrating her one year blog-i-versary.
Bloggers are sharing their 1st year blogging memories.  I can not wait to read other people's memories.  I love all the bloggy friends that I have made and talk about you all like I have met you in person.
Here is my blog Memory:
I regularly snap pictures in my class, for this little blog, for weekly newsletters, and for an end of the year slideshow.  My students know I blog and that I read blogs....because teachers practice reading and writing too.  Often I will show them some of the ideas from your blogs, so the see some student examples of what I am asking them to do.  So one day I was taking pictures of some project we were doing.  The student who I took the picture started beaming and I asked him what he was so happy about.  His answer, "You are going to put that picture on the blog.  I am going to be famous!  Some kid somewhere else will see my work and know what to do.  Just like a real artist."  Oh how I love kids!
Your turn....share your story and go link up.

Oregon Love and The Art Man

Rain!  Finally.  I am an Oregonian through and through.  Rainy, drizzly, sit-in-a-chair-with-a-book-and-coffee days are my favorite.  Last week, my brother and I went on our annual "Columbus Day" beach trip.  An hour and a half drive lands you at the ocean.  It was a miserable day...I think the rain was blowing sideways!  We braved it and found clam chowder, the outlet mall, the beach.  Then I discovered the magic of combining cheese and caramel popcorn!  So addicted, I may need a group.  It isn't even a new phenomenon...it's called Chicago style.  Who knew!?

Fall is my favorite!  How can you not find this beautiful....
On my way to school....
what I see while at school.
Today, while looking for a video on clouds...this popped up as the first choice.  It was too great not to share! (Skip to the 30 second mark to start.)

 Weather Science Day

Today for lunch, I had leftover Chinese food and found some inspiration in the fortune cookie.  It is shareable to all of you lovely inspiring bloggers!
Your ability to love will help a child in need.
We are making mini-weather ones.  Today, most of us finished the title/front cover.
Yesterday, Jenny shared about her trip and so today I am sharing about the trip that came to us:-)  Our local science museum has traveling programs.  We had one all about weather today.
We made a cloud in a bottle:

 Pencils Poem

I can not figure out where all the pencils are disappearing to!  So today I went on a search.....and it inspired a poem:

Pencils in cubbies
Pencils in drawers
Pencils go in baskets
Not on the floors

Brilliant isn't it?....Bet you didn't know I was a secret poet.  In an attempt to solve this problem....I have given each group 8 pencils, labeled with their group name.
At the end of the day, groups will get points for the amount of pencils still in their basket.  Points are a very motivating thing people:-)  Anyone else have pencil issues?

 Boo-ed....the Good Kind

In no other scenario am I a fan of booing....very unsportsmanlike.  (Unless you are booing an ump's bad call during a baseball game.)  However some shout out booing is going on and I am a fan of this kind:-)
Blogger Shout-Out:
This week I was BOO-ed by my BBF Jenny over at Owl Things First.  If you haven't already, you definitely need to go visit.  She always has cute and useful freebies and you can still get in on her giveaway.
3-5 October Activities:
The first one is an activity I did last year.  We were working elements of line and shape.  So we cut out a pumpkin and added lines that were thick, thin, squiggly, straight, etc to our pumpkin.
We also make Self-Portraits using a pumpkin for a head:-)
Then we added a speech bubble that said what we loved about first _____ grade.  The bulletin board title was, "35 Pumpkins Sitting on a fence, the first one said,...." or something like that.
The Inpired Apple's Candy Corn Bandit is a blast!  If I hadn't done it last year I would absolutely be repeating it!  Click the bandit to check it out.

I love The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything!
And I found this chart on Pinterest, to go along with it.
Jessica Nieves at Florence Hill
And my last favorite October activity is my Chickadee's favorite brain break...that we only do in October:-)
