It's a Party and I'll Join if I Want To...

Linky Party Number 1:  What are You Going to Read This Summer @ Clutter-Free Classroom?  Oh I have plans....big plans!  Last summer I read a book a day....it was stressful to keep that up, so I think I will relax a bit about that....and probably end up doing unintentionally anyway.  There are a lot of books in my summer stack, but here are the top two.  I want to read The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.  I have had numerous people tell me about it and am looking forward to getting started.  Professionally I want to read In Pictures and In Words by Katie Wood Ray.  I love her stuff and won the book at a conference!

Linky Party Number 2:  Rockin' Resources @ Teacher Idea Factory What things could your classroom not live without?

1)  Blogland and Pinterest....so many amazing thoughts, ideas, and teachers help my classroom everyday!

2)  Expo Dry Erase Markers....all and only the good colors:-)

3)  Library--A well organized--comfy--full of books classroom library as well as a fabulous public library with ideas and numerous copies of books to hook more readers!

4)  Ice Cube Trays--They contain SMALL amounts of paint, glue, glitter, and easily wash out.  They are also the perfect organizer for our daily fluoride.
5)  Packaging Tape--I use this constantly!!!!  Things stick well and don't leave a residue.
Happy Wednesday,

 Charlotte's Web From A to Z

My reading class has finally finished reading, studying, and discussing Charlotte's Web.  So we made an alphabet book.  They had to
-draw a border and put words that described their word.
-write at least five facts about their word.
-find a quote from the book that illustrates something about their word.
-illustrate and color their page.
Here they are:

"Visitors are like papparazzi."  Love that!
Now we are comparing the movie to the book.
Happy Tuesday,

 Obsession Linky

While waiting for my (experimental) crock pot bread to finish, I thought I would join the party at Living a Wonderful Life.  At first, I was thinking about how my obsessions have nothing to do with my classroom, but then the more I thought about it, I realized that isn't quite true.  If you were to ask my chickadees what I loved, they would say the same things I am pretty much obsessed with.  Hopefully my sharing encourages them and helps them feel safe enough to do the same.  So here they are in no particular order.

1.  Muscials-I know the random bursts of song and cheesy plots....I can't help it.  I really can't.  One year, I was even ambitious enough to get my whole class working on a school musical.

2.  Dodgers-my classroom even has Dodger curtains above the door.

3.  Reading-I read constantly.  I tell my chickadees that I read constantly and what I read (sometimes)

SO love the suspenders as well!
4.  Josh Groban-I refer to him as "my future husband".  The other day one of my students told me I really needed to move to New York if this was going to actually be in the future:-)

Scroll to the about the 3 minute mark....

One more then I promise I will be done:-)  Although this party is dangerous:-)  So this video is from a musical called Chess(the music is amazing)  and who is singing.....Josh of course.  (Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal of Rent)  Skip to 1 min. mark.
Happy Monday,
