 Weather Science Day

Today for lunch, I had leftover Chinese food and found some inspiration in the fortune cookie.  It is shareable to all of you lovely inspiring bloggers!
Your ability to love will help a child in need.
We are making mini-weather ones.  Today, most of us finished the title/front cover.
Yesterday, Jenny shared about her trip and so today I am sharing about the trip that came to us:-)  Our local science museum has traveling programs.  We had one all about weather today.
We made a cloud in a bottle:

 Basketball Library Beat

Sorry about the blurriness....
Oh what a long week...my chickadees are still wonderful, but the week was busy and draagggged on forever!  And then thinking back, I don't even remember what all we did!  Last night was the staff vs. 5th grade basketball game.  This year's team names....Staff Infection vs. Penicillion:-)  It is a 5th grade tradition and technology fundraiser.  The kids talked a lot of smack, but in the end it was the year of the teachers:-)  During the game we have a 50/50 Raffle and sell concessions.  My favorite is the foul calls.  For $5.00 students can give the teacher of their choice a foul and they have to return to the bench.  I think the more fouls...the more you are loved.

And then today's event.....walking field trip to a branch of our local library relocated about a mile from our school, we got there and learned all about the library.  We also got to play in the park and get our very own library cards.

Off we go....
All the 2nd graders have arrived!  SO thankful for the cooperating weather.
We played on the cool play structures.

Then we found a quiet spot, looked back on our year, and did some reading reflecting.

Our reading reflection page....for your very own "add cute clipart" freebie click here.
And finally, our turn to tour the new library arrived.
 Lunch time!
 More playing!
 Walking home back to school.
Loving this picture.  They randomly started holding hands, raising them, and shouting hurray!
Super humid today....let's use a shirt to cover our head.
Exhausted....this is not me laying on the floor....but it easily could have been.
Happy Friday,

Field Trip and a Book Swap

I am quite certain the day could not have been any busier!  And we were in our fancy clothes all day.....I LoVE it when kids are extra adorable!

In a suit!
We started with a book swap.  I played music and students marched around till the music stopped.  Then we repeated that a few times.  After about 5 turns, we kept the book at the desk we stopped on.  We gathered on the carpet and opened books, shared what the inscription was, and showed our new treasures.
Opening books...fancy hairstyle for Chickadee on the right.

Then we ate a snack and loaded onto the bus.
Matching clutch for her dress.

Fancy Dress...with the peace sign:-)

Our destination was the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, in downtown Portland.  It is one of the most beautiful building, and is the home for the Oregon Symphony.  We were going to see Ten Grands for Kids, a free concert.  Ten Grand Pianos are all arranged on stage and played by kids from ages 5-18.  They are amazing.  They played some solos, and duets, and all 10 at one time!  So cool and something some kiddos would never otherwise experience.

Waiting for the show to start....I may have gotten yelled at for taking this picture:-)
Happy Tuesday,
