How are all of you able to think about next year! You are amazing and kind of stressing me out! I am not a "theme" person. But I do love colors so have been thinking about what colors I want to commit to. Curtains "hide" a section of my room that houses student backpacks and coats. Sewing new curtains does not sound like a summer project I want to start, so possibly the curtains will dictate room colors.
Although another part of me thinks a Dodger inspired classroom would be so fun. Dodger blue, pin stripes, a tiny bit of red....
Having students invested in the classroom is hugely important to me. I need a balance between making and creating cute things and my leaving room for student involvement in the decorating of the classroom. While I do live in the classroom for most of the day...so do my students and it should a place they take as much pride in creating as I do. I am guilty of getting wrapped up in having everything coordinated and just right. I used to be better about having students help create their classroom. Having them make labels is one the ways I can do that. In their groups, they can choose a name and design a sign to label their table as well as a small matching one for their supply tub. They also each have a cubby and a drawer, that they could design a label for, instead of me making all of them match.
However, it is summer, which means I can not let myself spend all day thinking and working on school....in a few weeks, I think I can start obsessing about next year.....but for now I am debating between which TV marathon I should start....Firefly or Leverage.
Happy Wednesday,
