I must be really bad at it, because my kids choose the others over it all the time. :)
❀ Tammy
Forever in FirstTammyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18053983168084838303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061921505378808804.post-17939210073678271642012-09-09T08:49:18.189-07:002012-09-09T08:49:18.189-07:00Thanks for the Word Work idea! I like that you use your vocab words (we have 10 a week from our StoryTown series) in WW.
Thanks!
Erin
http://adventuresinthirdgrade-brown.blogspot.com/Erin Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01949082112382483798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061921505378808804.post-43773036504779104692012-09-09T08:49:07.637-07:002012-09-09T08:49:07.637-07:00My students are 4th/5th graders. I might just introduce words/skills and have them apply them to their writing or use some sort of menu. I need to figure out a plan today though.
~April Walker
The Idea Backpack
Come on over and linkup your technology tips post and enter my giveaway!
April Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05001622249478503557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061921505378808804.post-66061765735695300202012-09-08T18:33:21.894-07:002012-09-08T18:33:21.894-07:00I did learn that word work shouldn't be longer...I did learn that word work shouldn't be longer than 10 minutes. After 10 minutes they can work on writing or read to self. I use my Spelling and Word Work Packets on tpt. Basically rainbow writing, sand writing, roll and write, etc.Miss Nelsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05539338105523098667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061921505378808804.post-7667702238115237042012-09-08T18:17:15.740-07:002012-09-08T18:17:15.740-07:00Ah! I'm going to have my kiddos log words all year during lessons, and always bring that book to word work. One of the tasks will be going through the books in their book boxes and cataloging words that fit the weekly pattern. That way the words become relevant to them. I have also thought about using some dice or cards to have them build words with the weekly pattern (which they will also have to log in their book).

I'm excited about the book because my kiddos who struggle with certain sound/word patterns can be instructed to work only on those words from their book.

It's not completely figured out, but I'm happy to share as I go! I think it's going to be a good start!

Kate
Second Grade Sparkle Kate Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07709595474926024219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061921505378808804.post-27099257701584817702012-09-08T18:06:31.602-07:002012-09-08T18:06:31.602-07:00I'm just starting Word Work this week, and I&#...I'm just starting Word Work this week, and I'm worried about the same thing! I feel like I've got my kids really loving reading, for the most part- and I'm nervous that adding in Word Work will make them suddenly forget about that. I hope someone posts some tips for still allowing choice but making word work as 'fun' as reading!

Jenny
Luckeyfrog's Lilypadluckeyfroghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09338266098096236978noreply@blogger.com
