Mailboxes

Possibly you don't have room for a giant mailbox center or funding...I have a solution for both.  All you need is a crate and hanging files.  I used to only use one crate, but with 36 chickadees the pack up line was never ending.  So one crate is for boys and one crate is for girls.  This also helps when papers go home, that are gender specific...soccer/volleyball/flag football/etc.

Papers that need to go home are in the tray next to the crates and then each student has their name on a hanging file.   The filing team grabs and paper and puts in the matching folder.

Works like a charm!

Happy Tuesday,

  1. This is just great Laurie! What a fabulous tip :)
Are these crates meant for filing or by chance do the files just fit perfectly inside of them?

Great idea to have a boys one then a girls one plus their tags. :)

  2. What a great system!! And- it takes up less space than the mailboxes would.

  3. I do this too, but yours is much cooler than mine! Maybe I will "pretty up" mine for next year! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. I use hanging files for mailboxes too--I have never understood why more teachers don't! It takes up a fraction of the space!

  5. Love this idea. I think I might reclaim a couple feet of counter space next year!

  6. You may have just saved me a little money! That was on my list for next year-to find some mailboxes. This might even work better. Thanks so much for sharing the idea! :)
