Kings, Queens, and Dragons. Oh My!

Once upon a time, I taught first grade.   My teaching partner, at the time, had a great book of step by step direction art drawings.  We did a very nice gingerbread house.  I found the file with illegal copied version of the book and found step by step directions for kings and queens.  Dragons were in the book also.

What a great art plan for our unit on fairy tales.  Since I have moved up to 2nd and 3rd grade and wanted to give some choice within the art project, I quickly showed them the steps for all three different characters.  Students could chose which character they wanted to draw.

We started with pencil and traced with Sharpie.
Notice how the lovely student who remembered to put an "art folder" under her work so Sharpie doesn't decorate the table!
Next we water color.  This time, notice the missing art folder...because water would ruin the art folders.
And some of the completed work hanging out on the drying rack.
Happy Finally Friday,

  1. Wow! They are really impressive! My kids are using water colors for a project this week. I admit I don't take them out nearly as much as I should. It would help if I had a sink in my room...maybe next year!
