Classroom Photos...Now Onto Planning

My room is ready!  I may not have my plans ready (there are still two more days for that) but the room is ready!  Be prepared....there are a lot of pictures!
The classroom door.  Everyone's name is on a foot.  Then I add their picture.
Some subway art:  The one on the left is from Melonheadz and if you know who did the one on the right, let me know so I can give appropriate credit.

On the wall across from the door (the whole area is a kind of alcove). It says today became great when you walked in.  Class list underneath.

The view from the door looking straight across.
The view from the door looking diagonally.
The view from the door looking to the left.
Info. board.  Students sign up for lunch.  Once school starts, this is wear I post the weekly newsletter.
My favorite storage drawers.  The bear's name is PeeWee.  He visits student homes each night.  The blue bucket has all of the lunch choices and the lunch recording sheet for the office.  The rest is just cute stuff that makes me happy.  Glass jar of baseballs--each year I have the class all sign their names to a ball.  10 years of teaching...10 baseballs.
Quote:  "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."
More subway art and a tile I painted.  It says "Promise me you'll remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."  -Christopher Robin
From 2nd Grade Shenanigans classroom tour post.  Love the chalk on black paper!
Reminders of things to do in the morning.
The chapter book part of the library.
This is on the wall behind the books.  Everyone has a picture and they update what they are reading.
The picture book side of the library.
My desk area.
Information for Chickadees....groups, jobs, no names, room checkout....

Where students line up and when they change their books.
Student check out board.  The thought of taking a pass back and forth from the bathroom turns my stomach.  So when students want to leave, they move the magnet to their name.  Then return it when they come back.  Now, if they didn't wash their hands...this is no better than a bathroom pass, but it makes me feel better.
Our job chart.
My info board.
The non-fiction part of the library.  The green baskets on the right have easy reader books.
Turn in box and math folder storage.  We switch kids around for math, so I like to keep the work they turn in separate from work my classroom kiddos turn in.
Writing folders.  I have a lot of kids, so we walk down the hall in two lines.  (Macaroni and Cheese)  I decided to keep folders divided using the same groups as the hall lines.
Turn in box, turn in drawers, and the hiding "easy button."
A view to the left across the room from my desk area.
A view diagonally across the room from my desk area.
A view to the right from my desk area.  Ignore all the tubs....they are for students to sort their supplies come Tuesday.  Soon the desk will be clear and it is an extra space to work.  Also the reading tent is down in the corner.
Calendar area chair, easel, supplies.
Our class reading friends.  Ignore the projector mess...
 Calendar Wall
Word wall, take home files, and extra seating.
Friday Fun storage and this is where I keep read alouds and professional books.  The outside has math fact stuff....but that may be moving.  The yellow boxes are old Bridges math curriculum boxes...one holds all the kleenex/baby wipes and the other one has extra tubs, etc.
Sink counter.  Supply tubs, sharpener.
No excuse words...our whole school uses these so we have consistent lists of words for students to learn.
A map...obviously.  It has always been up there, but I love the finished look the border gives it.
Clock with numbers that I would like to make bigger, but the stuff around the clock prevents that!
Clip chart
Filing cabinets and the "to file" box.  Sometimes I just can't file things right away.  I put it in the box until I get a chance to put it in the appropriate file.....that chance often is a year later:-)
A view from the sink looking back towards desk area.
A view from sink looking towards door.
Snack baskets.  We start school at 7:45 and lunch is not until 12:15....snack is essential!  I like to have students get snack out at beginning of day so that time is not wasted digging through lunch bags and backpacks.
Backpack tubs....hopefully they will hold everyone's stuff.
You made it all the way to the end!  Now I can go figure out what the plans for Tuesday are!

Happy Saturday,
